FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTNew York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college of over 17,000 students of diverse backgrounds in downtown Brooklyn, offering associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Marketing/Fashion Specialty at the Assistant Professor level, to begin during the 2017-2018 academic year.The Department of Business has 12 full time faculty members with extensive experience in the private sector as well as academic credentials. Close to one thousand students are enrolled in the Department of Business, which offers a baccalaureate degree in the Business and Technology of Fashion, in addition to three associate-level programs -- Accounting, The Business and Technology of Fashion, and Marketing Management and Sales. Additional bachelor's level programs are being developed.The candidate hired will teach undergraduate level courses that may include marketing, fashion marketing and other fashion related topics, textiles, business management, advertising techniques, marketing strategies, web/social media-based promotion and advertising, and innovative business development. Additionally, the successful candidate will be able to leverage industry/university experience to assist in the development of departmental initiatives such as bachelor's-level programs, including those in non-fashion/marketing areas, e.g., accounting, small enterprise, non-traditional business career paths, etc.The position requires a commitment to teaching, scholarly research resulting in publication and presentation, sustained service to the department and college, and academic advisement. The candidate hired will be expected to participate effectively in Department/College/University-wide initiatives and function collaboratively, playing an active role in the creation, development, and assessment of department curricula and programs.QUALIFICATIONSRequired: By the date of appointment, Ph.D. or equivalent in hand in marketing, fashion communications, or a related field. The candidate's profile must include evidence of structural familiarity with universities/large organizations, writing ability, teaching, management experience/responsibility for large projects, scholarly work, creativity/innovation, and professional/industry experience. Strong academic and professional references are necessary. Effective communicative skills are essential. Published work and a commitment to quality research are required.
