A. Basic Function: (Purpose of Staff Position) ACSESS is seeking to fill a new Publications Marketing Specialist position with an enthusiastic, career?minded individual, with a strong work ethic and a commitment to teamwork. This position reports to the Manager of Sales & Marketing and has responsibility for assisting with the many facets of the sales and marketing effort including creating marketing pieces, developing and implementing marketing campaigns and strategically planning a marketing work flow to several different audiences.
B. Responsibilities: a. Principal Duties, Functions: (Indicate degree of latitude) i. Work with Manager of Sales & Marketing to create and implement marketing campaigns and promotions for the journals, magazines, books and Digital Library, new content, features etc. ii. Develop and implement marketing campaigns and promotions in partnership with other ACSESS departments to support all ACSESS departmental marketing goals iii. Identify new marketing opportunities iv. Develop and implement strategic marketing plans v. Develop marketing pieces targeting authors for Open Access content vi. Support in soliciting testimonials and reviews of Digital Library vii. Copyedit, proofread, and revise communications viii. Recommend site design and operation updates. ix. Help to coordinate scheduling and logistics and periodically attend trade shows as needed x. Manage indexers xi. Create analytical reports and visuals xii. Create tutorials and maintain websites for content and feature updates, policy & procedure updates, and database use FAQs b. Administrative and Management Responsibilities: i. None
C. Relationships: a. Supervision Exercised: None b. Supervision Received: From Manager of Sales & Marketing c. Contact with Headquarters Staff: Extensive contact with Managing Editors, Designer, and Magazine staff. Some contact with Accounting, IT, Membership, Meetings, Advertising, and PR staff. d. Contact with Volunteers, Members: Some contact with Journal & book Editors, Editors?in? Chief, and authors. e. Contact Other: Significant contact with Librarians, institutional administrators, consortia administrators, database and content users, Faculty, Department Chairs, members, sales agents and other representatives.
D. Education: a. Bachelors Degree and experience in marketing E. Required Qualification: a. Willing to learn and ask questions b. Excellent verbal and written communication skills c. Strong organizational and follow?up skills d. Ability to work as part of a team e. Able to work independently but within strategic framework f. Good business acumen g. Can handle many projects/assignments at the same time h. Above average computer skills with experience in Adobe Design suite, MS office suite, and Outlook
F. Desired Qualification: a. Past industry related or equivalent experience in agricultural, environmental or biological science field. b. Knowledge of CRM database such as Protech
G. Other requirements: a. Light travel
H. Experience a. Marketing experience required. b. Experience in journals/books marketing strongly desired. c. Prior experience in nonprofit scientific society helpful. d. Prior experience in customer service helpful.
