Responsibilities for this position consist of a range of duties related to management, marketing, and recruitment for ESL Programs. The successful candidate will be expected to: • Participate in the development and instruction of ESP programs • Create and coordinate curriculum, train teachers, organize orientation and other events, teach in the program • Manage short-term programs • Process ESL applications, including verification of bank statements and immigration documents in an expedient manner • Perform DSO (Designated Signing Official) duties, which include creating immigration documents and answering student inquiries pertaining to immigration/visa issues • Maintain select survey, ESL web applications and website postings; monitor and make updates of time-sensitive program information • Maintain membership and engagement with professional organizations related to international students and recruitment • Present at professional conferences • Actively engage in international recruitment travel and present information sessions in order to promote the UNCWESL Program at the international level • Establish and enhance professional relationships and collaborate with counselors at sponsored international student organizations, overseas schools, advisors and other constituencies in efforts for further recruitment • Attract a balanced and diverse ESL population, with a particular focus on those who wish to obtain a degree at UNCW • Develop and foster professional relationships with colleagues within other units at UNCW to advance ESL program goals • Design and implement innovative strategies for retention of students • Implement and improve utilization of new and current technology and web tools for international recruitment, such as online chats and virtual tours intended to engage and yield applicants for the ESL Program
Many of these responsibilities entail evening and weekend commitments (including international travel)
This position requires a high degree of initiative, creativity and self-direction
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
