This is planned as a two-year appointment, with the second year contingent upon availability of funding. The position is responsible for delivery of our core marketing course and we expect the new hire would deliver courses in marketing research and analytics in addition to other courses matching the candidate's interests and program needs. Ability to teach digital marketing is considered an asset. All teaching is at the graduate level. As a small program, MIIS values collegiality, high and frequent contact with students, and active participation in the MBA program.
General Responsibilities: Teach 5 courses during the academic year, for a total of 15 credit hours. Attend faculty meetings and participate actively in service activities related to the program. Be physically present on campus an average of three days per week during each semester. Stay current and fresh in areas of expertise/teaching/research, and continuously update and modify course syllabi as a normal course of professional conduct. Deploy a diverse set of teaching and learning tools and approaches that appeal to different learning styles and continuously update teaching skills. Qualifications
Education: The position requires that the successful candidate hold a PhD in marketing at the time of appointment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: In evaluating the record and potential of candidates for appointment, primary consideration is given to the following: Teaching ability, as evidenced by appropriate references, student evaluations, and recommendation of peers. Professional competence, as evidenced by the candidate's educational record; scholarly activities such as publications, research and papers presented at professional meetings; and reputation among peers in the field of specialization. Personal attributes such as integrity, initiative, breadth and focus of intellectual interest, and willingness to advise and assist students and participate in Institute activities. Desirable characteristics include industry work experience, experience with interdisciplinary teaching and/or research teams. MIIS promotes an international and multicultural environment. The ability to work in that environment is required, while international experience and second language capabilities are desirable. Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent teaching ability, and a record of scholarship in business strategy and related areas. Quality of teaching is the most important responsibility of all Middlebury Institute's faculty.
