The Lead Data Analyst has the important role of turning operational marketing data into insight and direction for the broader team. You will use your business acumen and analytical smarts to understand our broader objectives and turn insights into action. You’ll guide our growing marketing team to achieve increasingly measurable results. Responsibilities include defining, securing, and maintaining Northwestern measurement tools and dashboards, monthly website and social insights, recommendations reports and tracking of offline KPIs. You will use your software and modeling skills to cull meaningful insights from data from disparate paid, owned and earned marketing channels.
Partner in strategic planning processes. Provide guidance to all team leads to prioritize projects with the highest return on effort. Establish, update, and/or confirm KPIs as appropriate for each channel.
Assess enterprise needs and points of intersection for other University analytics efforts; train and consult with other departments and schools.
Own the operational metrics for our top level website and all social media platforms. Partner with team members to create visual dashboards that signal changes in Key Performance Indicators. Augment our current measurement toolset as needed to obtain best insights for decision-making.
Evaluate and implement new methods and tools to publish and maintain metrics. Simplify the addition of new metrics. Explore data visualization tools for non-tech business users.
Develop and lead new multivariate and A/B testing practice for the web and social team. Identify challenges that prevent users from completing business goals and construct tests to evaluate options and continually optimize our user experience.
Design and implement custom reports on a project-by-project basis. Analyze and identify key insights in relation to overall objectives of maximizing Marketing ROI. Share insights and their implications at key project milestones and in “lessons learned” debrief meetings.
Train colleagues to be self-sufficient in accessing and interpreting data. Educate the team in constructing statistically valid tests for ongoing optimization.
Co-lead the enterprise transition to Google 360. Take the lead on ongoing training and maintenance.

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
4-8 years minimum experience in digital marketing analytics, reporting, A/B testing and/or site/campaign optimization.
Proficiency in digital marketing software toolset such as Google Analytics, Hootsuite, Adobe, etc.
Demonstrated ability to frame complex analytical problems, pull data and extract insights that led to tangible business results.
Strong report building and data visualization skills. Experience with report software such as Tableau.
Understanding of the ebb and flow of social communities.
Speaking, writing and presentation skills ability to persuade, inspire and motivate others. Ability to summarize key insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work well in a team and independently.
Experience with complex organizations.
Experience architecting measurement systems and dashboards for multiple lines of business.
Experience with Google 360.
