The American Bus Association (ABA), a leading transportation trade association, is seeking an Associate to support its communications and marketing activities.
The Associate for Communications & Marketing would support the Communications & Media Relations Office of ABA to promote the Association’s goals. The position reports directly to the Director of Communications and Media Relations, and collaborates with other ABA Divisions, including Meetings, Education and Member Services, Government Affairs & Policy and the ABA Foundation.
The Associate for Communications & Marketing operates in a fast-paced, dynamic association environment, with routine deadlines and competing assignments. This position is responsible for managing content for ABA’s daily and weekly publications, managing aspects of ABA’s website, and implementing compelling communications and marketing plans and messaging across channels to improve member engagement and communication, promoting programs and events, and strengthening membership recruitment and retention.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 or more years’ experience in communications and/or marketing, in addition to a bachelor’s degree in a related field. As well, the candidate must have strong written and oral communications skills, demonstrating attention to detail. The candidate must also be task oriented, energetic and demonstrate an interest in professional development. Knowledge and experience with basic office software is essential, and preference will be given to candidates with experience in web-based content publishing.
Candidates must possess a broad knowledge of marketing principles, proven time-management skills, the ability to meet goals and deadlines and quality standards whether working independently or collaboratively and possess a working knowledge of branding and graphic placement in print and digital media.
Specific Skills Requirements:
2+ years in communications/marketing position
Proven oral and written competency
Familiarity with communications software
Experience with basic office software, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Experience with creative software, e.g. Adobe Creative Suite
Experience with web-based content publishing
Experience with social media resources
Experience with video editing a plus
Knowledge of AP Style a plus
Creativity, curiosity, a broad range of knowledge, self-motivation, perseverance and tact.
Ability to concentrate and manage multiple, and at times conflicting deadlines.

ABA represents approximately 950 motorcoach and tour companies in the United States and Canada. Its members operate charter, tour, regular route, airport express, special operations and contract services (commuter, school, transit).
