As the Senior Director, Marketing and Communications, you will be charged with the development and implementation of strategies supporting the Society’s’ goals of building our brand, engaging our members and extending our reach. You will have oversight for the marketing, communication, and public relations efforts of the Society. This position will report to the Chief Experience Officer (CXO) and will serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
Essential Job Responsibilities
In this role you will be responsible for the following:
Develop and implement the annual marketing plan and the strategies, tactics and resources needed to achieve the Society’s goals.
Oversee the development of effective and creative marketing and communications strategies designed to develop and promote the HRS brand, drive growth in member segments and revenue channels and foster member engagement.
Develop and implement strategic marketing and communications plans.
Monitor and analyze communication data and develop strategies to leverage trends and improve communications efficiency and effectiveness.
Monitor and drive the Society’s brand reach and reputation through social media channels.
Assume responsibility for the coordination of all promotional and communication outreach efforts including: advertising, direct marketing, electronic media collateral, and trade show promotion.
Establish an annual market research agenda and oversee all related initiatives; including, the conducting of primary research.
Oversee and conduct marketplace intelligence and establish an ongoing means to monitor the marketplace for trends, opportunities and threats to the Society.
Work with all committees and volunteer leadership to ensure marketing communications are effectively executed and coordinated to support marketing plan objectives.
Ensure that the Society’s overall marketing and branding policies are applied to communication materials, website content, and other digital channels.
Develop and track metrics and success criteria for all marketing programs and activities.
Develop new viable channels of distribution for market communications and product offerings.
Communications, Media and Public Relations Oversight:
Assume primary responsibility for the external communications strategy and provide oversight to all public relations and media-related efforts. Develop sound processes to proactively and reactively address media and membership issues that arise.
Establish a process to select and manage marketing, communications and PR vendors.
Oversee development of media schedules and placement of advertisements.
Develop strategies to maximize media reach of the annual Heart Rhythm Scientific Sessions meeting and other events organized or sponsored by HRS.
Establish benchmarks and dashboards for monitoring success of media efforts.
Staff/Operational Leadership Responsibilities:
Cultivate a marketing orientation to planning throughout the organization. Communicates and interprets strategy implications to staff in the division.
Contribute to the development of the overall annual budget for the organization.
Collaborate with the Chief Experience Officer and leadership team in the development of goals and priorities that align with the Heart Rhythm Society’s strategy.
Assume financial responsibility for the division, including budget development as well as revenue and expense targets.
Works with Senior Leadership Team(SLT) to drive collaboration and achieve goals.
Manages and develops staff.
Represents the Heart Rhythm Society in external relationships.
Essential Experience, Skills and Competencies:
You will have the opportunity to demonstrate the following:
Bachelor’s in marketing, communications or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Ten or more years of experience in developing and implementing membership, marketing, and communication strategies that have consistently met or exceeded planned objectives.
Five years of experience in a non-profit organization; preferably in the area of healthcare. Understanding of cardiovascular field highly desired.
Minimum of five years in a senior management capacity; with staff management responsibilities.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create results driven, team-oriented environment.
Knowledge and experience in managing senior volunteer relationships is highly desirable.
Planning, budgeting and leadership experience required.
Knowledge of the application and use of association management systems for association activities.
Ability to initiate and drive change initiatives
