A Communication and Marketing Specialist is needed to provide dynamic, robust, detail-oriented initiative and support for the University of Pittsburgh's Honors College (PittHonors). PittHonors serves the most academically gifted, intellectually curious, and service minded individuals at the University. PittHonors provides benefits such as (1) dedicated student housing; (2) personalized advising; (3) a unit dedicated to helping students identify and apply for prestigious national scholarships; (4) honors courses; (5) several weekly programs; (6) engaged faculty fellows and alumni; and (7) the highest prestige baccalaureate degree available in the US (the BPhil).
The Communications & Marketing Specialist will be responsible for (1) developing and implementing a complete communications plan for PittHonors, (2) maintenance of multiple social media accounts; (3) maintenance of the PittHonors Web site; (4) monitoring of external communications for information of importance to PittHonors; (5) writing marketing material related to outstanding students, staff, faculty, and alumni for a weekly Dean's Spotlight; (6) supervision of a student communications intern; (7) maintenance of a comprehensive list of external contacts; (8) development, printing, and distribution of an annual report; (9) development and editing of key presentations in both Prezi and PowerPoint; (10) development of flyers and marketing materials with tools such as InDesign, Photoshop, and Publisher; and (11) assisting with event planning and other administrative tasks as needed. Incumbent must have excellent oral and written communication skills; intermediate or advanced computer skills; excellent editing and organizational skills; must be able to work independently and manage concurrent projects; and interact effectively with staff, students, faculty, University administrators and the community.
