University Housing and DIning is seeking a Marketing and Communications Manager. This is a full-time,12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director. The Marketing and Communications Manager is a member of the creative, dynamic marketing team in University Housing & Dining Services (UHDS) at Oregon State University (OSU). UHDS serves on-campus residents and a multitude of faculty, staff and Corvallis community audiences through its various services. Ancillary and dining services alone for the department comprise more than $16 million in revenue for UHDS. This position is a lead marketing manager for these university-wide programs that serve and house faculty, students and staff. These programs include, but are not limited to: UHDS residential dining, University Catering, Orange Rewards, conference and scholar housing and UHDS Summer Session Housing.
This position has the authority and discretion to create and implement targeted marketing plans to increase sales and participation in the programs listed above. This position works in collaboration with two other marketing managers to plan, implement and evaluate all aspects of marketing to faculty, staff and community members. This entails managing a marketing budget, content creation, print and web projects, social media, promotional items, vendors, contests and sponsorships. This position is also part of an outreach team that manages and participates in year-round events to recruit prospective students to campus in relationship with the Office of Admissions and New Student Programs and Family Outreach. UHDS' vision is to engage our students, enrich their lives and help them thrive. Our newest partnerships include a recently opened residence hall on the OSU-Cascades campus (Bend, Oregon), and new developments planned at the Hatfield Marine Science Center (Newport, Oregon) along with new upper-division housing complexes on the Corvallis campus. Typically requires Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field. 3 years’ experience related to the discipline of the college, unit or department.
Bachelor’s degree in business/marketing, journalism, public relations, new media communications, graphic design or a field relevant to duties outlined in the position description
At least three years of professional experience working within a marketing-related field, which included development, implementation and management of marketing strategy and tactics
Demonstrated experience managing creative projects with multiple elements, including graphic design, web development, video and/or photography
Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity including the ability to build relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders
Excellent written skills, including copywriting and editing
Strong verbal communication skills, including presentation skills (public speaking)
Excellent project management skills and ability to meet deadlines
Proven track record of creativity and innovative work
Experience working independently and initiating work
Demonstrated leadership and/or experience as a member of a creative team
Demonstrated experience in managing a budget for a program or campaign
Pursuant to UHDS Policy, this position is required to maintain current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) certification (if cognitively and physically able to do so) within 90 days of employment or when training becomes available by the department. Training is provided at the department's expense. Duty to act ends at summoning professional emergency assistance.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
During the academic year this position works a typical 8-5 schedule with some evenings and weekends. During the spring and summer this position occasionally works an irregular schedule with attendance expectation of 40+ per week, including nights and weekends due to university outreach events and START orientation participation as part of UHDS recruitment strategy.
This position is deemed essential and the incumbent may be contacted by his/her supervisor and required to report to work during inclement weather, emergency and other University work curtailments.
