The Director of Marketing and Communications reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and manages the school’s advertising and marketing, internal and external communications and public relations efforts, as well as print and digital content. The goal of this position is to generate interest among prospective families in admissions, as well as to engage our families and constituents with current and meaningful information about the life of the school. This position works collaboratively with all divisions and departments of the school.
Advertising & Marketing
Goal: To support Admissions by generating interest among prospective families in Monmouth and northern Ocean Counties.
In partnership with the Chief Advancement Officer, maintain and execute the school’s strategic Marketing Plan.
Develop strategies to optimize advertising spend, identifying marketing vehicles (print, online, etc.) that will most effectively reach Ranney’s target audience.
Collaborate with Chief Advancement Officer and Academic Leadership to update Ranney’s value proposition. Leveraging this value proposition, craft key messaging for targeted audiences.
Analyze and report on performance results to Chief Advancement Officer; identify ways to assess ROI and effectiveness of advertising efforts.
Work collaboratively with Graphic Designer to create ads; manage advertising deadlines.
Develop/Write/Release compelling stories and press releases about Ranney students and faculty.
Collaborate with Ranney leadership and faculty to develop thought leadership pieces to promote Ranney’s expertise and value proposition.
Develop relationships with local and regional media to advertise news stories. Coordinate articles and interviews with the press, upon request.
Goal: To ensure all of Ranney’s internal constituents (parents, families, alumni, faculty, and staff) have access to current information and are engaged in the life of the school.
Support day-to-day management of the school’s news; conduct interviews, identify stakeholders for website spotlights, and write / post news on Ranney’s website and social media platforms.
Collaborate with school leadership to release scheduled school-wide and divisional e-newsletters.
Provide editorial oversight/proofreading for division/department publications, as needed.
Assist in oversight of school’s e-blast communication system and RENS system.
Develop and maintain the school’s Style/Brand guide to maintain common editorial and graphic standards across school publications and online content platforms.
Website & Social Media
Goal: To leverage Ranney’s website and social media platforms to share Ranney’s story with internal and external audiences.
Write, coordinate, and manage all front-facing content for the Ranney website.
Identify creative strategies to optimize the delivery of content on website and through social media (e.g. video, slideshows, infographics, etc.)
Manage school-wide social media platforms and postings, including but not limited to Twitter and Facebook.
Goal: To produce key publications for the purpose of internal messaging and external advertising.
Manage the creation, production and distribution of major school-wide publications (online and digital), including but not limited to Our Life / Annual Report, Summer Programs Brochure, Curriculum Guides, and the Ranney Handbook.
Assist in the creation, production and distribution of Advancement publications such as the school Directory, and Admissions and Development brochures, documents, and materials.
Assist in the creation of special event materials (e.g., presentations, posters) as needed.
Multimedia and Vendors
Coordinate special event photography and videography, including vendor hires.
Serve as school photographer to capture day-to-day moments on campus and in the classroom.
Edit photos and videos for publication; maintain school-wide photography and videography archives.
Develop and maintain productive and creative partnerships with designers, printers, photographers and videographers. Manage RFP process to secure best pricing/value.
Participate on Board Marketing Committee, ad hoc Crisis Communication Committees, and Crisis Management Committee.
Assist in leading internship program/activity with Ranney students to assist with various communications projects and to provide a student voice to school-wide marketing.
Manage purchase orders and invoice handling for marketing/communications expenses.
Represent the school at various gatherings.
Support the school’s mission and philosophy.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Chief Advancement Officer.
